The other day a work colleague and I were chatting about our busy lives and balancing work and family time with our respective kids.
I’m naturally a night owl but my son wakes me up early every morning demanding his breakfast. The result? I’m often short of sleep.
“I have the solution for you,” my colleague said.
He then explained that he leaves out trail mix, fruit and a glass of water for his kids before he goes to bed. Then in the morning, his kids simply help themselves, allowing their parents some extra minutes of precious sleep.
I thought this was such a brilliant idea I went home and tried it straight away. And it worked! When they work up in the morning, my kids (8 years and 4 years) helped themselves to the trail mix, fruit and water and I got to sleep in an extra half an hour! Amazing.
I also like preparing little containers of this trail mix in my handbag for those moments when I’m out and about and need a healthy snack.
This is such a healthy, versatile and easy recipe. Why not give it a go today?
